In a profession mainly composed of 46-55 year old adults, many younger adults struggle to find a coach with whom they can identify and connect. I am able to provide a unique perspective as a relatively young coach who has had a rewarding life experience thus far.
I grew up in the North Bay Area in California, and developed into a person dedicated to excellence at a young age. From elementary school on, I received almost all straight A’s. I played volleyball and was a Varsity swimmer throughout high school. There I was named the MVP of my high school varsity swim team and qualified for Junior Nationals at the age of 14. I was also given the award of the “All Empire Athlete of the Year,“ which names one athlete of numerous counties as the strongest competitor. In addition, I graduated high school as the Valedictorian of my class (out of 500 students), with a 4.6 GPA. I was also voted Sophomore Class Secretary and “Most Likely to be an Olympian” as a senior.
I earned an athletic full-ride scholarship to swim for UCI, a Division 1 California university. I went on to break and defend the UCI records in the 100 butterfly and 400 Medley Relay, and also received the Scholar Athlete and Highest GPA swimmer awards. Academically, I double majored in Cognitive Science and International Studies and graduated with a 3.9 GPA as a Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society member.
Professionally, I spent years in the business sales/consultative sales industry and excelled in each position. I began earning wonderful income, with all the freedom I could have imagined. Through a deep soul-searching process, I made a realization that despite the income and freedom I enjoyed, something was missing: true fulfillment and passion. From that moment forward, I vowed to use my experiences and gifts to help others achieve their greatest happiness.
My struggle and eventual success finding a meaningful career for myself gave me the deep desire to help other young adults find an easier path to their own careers of fulfillment. This was manifested through my Career Exploration coaching programs. I believe that your career is not just something to make you money, but should be created and molded, using your unique gifts, talents and desires in order to do something profoundly meaningful for you.
With the strong belief that all areas of one’s life are interdependent (career, fitness, family), I also endeavored to make the most of my fitness experience and help others to live healthier, and ultimately happier lives. My years as a competitive athlete combined with my experience as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer led me to create a more encompassing program: Lifestyle Fitness Coaching.
